Daily Look: Date Night

Blouse: Loft // Corduroys: Gap // Jacket: BB Dakota // Shoes: Nine West // Bracelet: Francesca's // Clutch: Vintage

This is a look that I wore out to dinner with my husband. We live in a very casual town, so getting dressed up doesn't generally take more than throwing on a cute top and a pair of heels (full disclosure: I was still the dressiest person we saw). I love the way the sequins on this blouse reflect light, making it look like it's made of liquid metal, and I'll be getting lots of use out of this BB Dakota bomber as the temperatures continue to drop.

Daily Look: Flutters and Pleats

Blouse: Asos // Skirt: American Apparel // Shoes: Franco Sarto via Endless // Earrings: Francesca's

This is a look that always makes me feel put together with minimal effort. I love the zipper detail on the blouse and the skirt has such great movement from the pleating that it makes me want to spin.

Daily Look: Ruffles and Cargo Pants

Blouse: Loft // Cargo Pants: Gap // Shoes: Bandolino via DSW // Sunglasses: Ray-Ban // Bracelet: Banana Republic

This look was inspired by a desire to combine feminine and masculine details. I like the way that this silky ruffled blouse and nude peep-toe heels contrast with the military-inspired cargo skinnies, which I just purchased for a steal during Gap's 30% off sale.

Daily Look: Pencil Pencil Skirt

Skirt: Anthropologie // Sweater: J. Crew // Tank: Banana Republic // Shoes: BCBG via Endless // Necklace: Forever 21 // Earrings: Etsy

Nothing in my wardrobe says hello school day quite as perfectly as my pencil pencil skirt. Teachers swoon over this piece that was actually given to me back in undergrad, before I even knew it would walk the hallways of an elementary school. Paired with a light sweater, I can make it through the burning parking lot and withstand the arctic chill from the air conditioning.

Daily Look: Bright Monday

Blouse: Banana Republic // Skirt: Banana Republic // Sandals: Banana Republic // Earrings: Banana Republic // Bracelet: The Limited

This is a cheerful look for the beginning of the work week. The bright color of my blouse stands in contrast to the haziness of my brain most Mondays. I am trying to get a few more wears out of my warm weather pieces before they go to the back of my closet until next year, something that I didn't have to worry about when I lived in Texas.

Daily Look: Dinner by the Pool

Shirt: Forever 21 // Skirt: Anthropologie // Shoes: BCBG via Endless // Earrings: Etsy // Ring: Vintage

I kept cool for gourmet burgers by the pool in white and gingham. I think this look just screams summer picnic, but it can also fit perfectly into my work wardrobe.

Daily Look: Sunday Brunch

Shirt: Nanette Lepore for Target // Skirt: J. Crew // Necklace: Goodwill // Shoes: Nine West via // Bow bracelet: H&M // Bangles: Annie Gogglyn // Other bracelets: Target

I wore this look to Sunday brunch at one of our favorite restaurants. I wanted a look that was both cute and casual. I also wanted something comfortable; when it comes to brunch, I have a tendency to overeat! Luckily, this skirt has an elastic waistband.

Daily Look: Casual Day in Austin

Blouse: H&M // Skirt: J. Crew // Shoes: Zara // Earrings: Target

This was an easy outfit for an afternoon eating and shopping with friends in Austin. I struck out at the vintage shops but found plenty I loved at an old fashioned candy shop.

My friend Rikki Moore was sweet enough to take this set of images.

Daily Look: Weekend Errands

Shirt: Forever 21 // Corduroys: Gap // Shoes: Gap // Sunglasses: Urban Outfitters

This weekend, I chose a simple, casual look for standard weekend errands, which included a trip to Target, grocery shopping, and a recycling run. This is a fairly common weekend look for me. I love throwing on a few comfortable basics when I don't need to dress up.

Daily Look: Black & Blue

Blouse: Asos // Pants: Zara // Heels: Nine West // Bracelets: J. Crew and Francesca's // Sunglasses: Ray-Ban // Nail Polish: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Celeb City

Today I went with a combination of colors that I used to think was off-limits: black and dark blue. I happen to love the way they look together, and I'm glad that fashion continues to move away from the strict rules of the past.

This fall I am looking for a few edgy pieces to add variety to my normally prim and proper wardrobe. A leather jacket, tall wedge boots, and skinny cropped pants should do the trick, but I couldn't help adding some sweet red flats and a full skirt.
