Daily Look: Chihuly at the Dallas Arboretum

Top sweater & pants: Gap // Bottom sweater: Loft // Shoes: Van's via Urban Outfitters // Purse: ModCloth // Earrings: Francesca's

During a trip to Dallas last weekend, I got the huge treat of seeing the Chihuly exhibit at the arboretum on the most perfect day of the year. There was a cool breeze, bright sun, and seamless displays of man-made and natural beauty.

Ever since my aunt showed me some of his artwork that she saw on a trip to Canada, I have been wanting to see Dale Chihuly's work, and it did not disappoint. I wish I could have stayed all day, and even stayed later than planned, forcing me to replace a sushi night with a speedy fast food run. Not the ideal meal, but well worth the extra strolling time it afforded me. I highly recommend a trip to any Texan readers!

Daily Look: All Business

Blazer: H&M // Blouse: Banana Republic // Skirt: Express // Shoes: Nine West // Earrings: Loft

As I've mentioned before, I love professional clothing because it makes me feel put-together and polished. This outfit is made up of pieces that would feel right at home in an office. Blazers, blouses, pencil skirts, and pumps are wardrobe staples that never really go out of style. They can, however, look a tad stodgy, which is never my goal. To avoid that, I look out for colorful versions like this aubergine blazer and fun details like the bows on my pumps.

Do you like to inject fun into your professional clothes? How do you do it?

Daily Look: Taking in a Matinee

Sweater: Loft // Pants: Gap // Shoes: Zara // Earrings: Francesca's // Ring: Vintage

This is an outfit that I wore to lunch and the movies with my mama. I always struggle a bit about what to wear to the movies because I hate getting cold or uncomfortable, and I can't exactly change in the middle. I have largely solved this problem though, by carrying a pair of fluffy socks in my purse. That way my feet stay warm, and I can take off my shoes without worrying about getting other people's popcorn on my toes.

What do you wear to the movies?

Twin Styled: What to Wear to a Holiday Party

Thanksgiving is over, which means that holiday parties are right around the corner. And with every invitation comes the dreaded question: What am I going to wear? In the hopes of solving that dilemma, I put together an outfit that would look fun, festive, and classy at nearly any dressy holiday get-together.

Holiday Party

While I know that some people refuse to wear red or green during the holidays because they can look cheesy, I think that a gorgeous red dress looks great year-round, so why shelve the color during the most wonderful time of the year? Once you've found a fabulous dress, pair it with sparkly accessories, a faux fur jacket for warmth, and glamorous makeup (I plan to try this look out), and you've got yourself a sophisticated look that will make you the center of attention in a good way (unlike that guy who had one too many glasses of punch).

Are you going to any dressy holiday parties this year? What do you plan to wear?

Daily Look: Black and Blue

Dress: Banana Republic // Tights: Target // Shoes: Nine West // Earrings: Limited

I always have a little bit of difficulty wearing this dress to work because, although I love it, black can be a bit austere on an elementary campus. But I think I found the perfect solution with these blue tights and heels.  The addition of blue brightens up the whole outfit, and keeps it from looking funereal.

Now I'm just missing one more accessory that this dress really requires--an automatic lint roller!

Daily Look: Cozy + Shiny

Sweater: Loft // Pants: BDG by Urban Outfitters // Shoes: Nine West // Bracelet: J. Crew // Earrings: Francesca's

I decided to try something different with this warm and fuzzy sweater and pair it with shinier, dressier pieces. Glossy waxed jeans, pointy heels, and sparkly jewelry give it a bit of an edge that I really like. I always think it's fun to put things together in an unexpected way. Sometimes it fails miserably, but sometimes you end up with a look that's just right. I really liked the way this outfit came out and can't wait to wear it again!

How was your Black Friday? Did you score any major deals? I shopped from the comfort of my sofa and managed to check almost everyone off my list, so I'm feeling pretty happy!

Daily Look: San Antonio Thanksgiving

Sweater: Gap // Shirt: Old Navy // Pants: J. Crew // Boots: Aldo // Earrings: Target

I had a double dose of Thanksgiving here in San Antonio, with enough yummy food to sink a ship! It was warm, sunny, and beautiful out, but I just didn't feel festive without a sweater. Believe me, I tried several combinations that were more weather-appropriate, but, for me, it isn't the holidays without knits. Luckily, we run the AC pretty much year-round down here, so I stayed perfectly comfortable.

As for what I have to give thanks for this year, the list is long. Most of all, I am so thankful for my family and loved ones. I have some seriously generous, kindhearted, hilarious people in my life, who I wouldn't be the same without.

Happy leftover turkey day!
