Daily Look: Black Cat

Sweatshirt & Ring: Asos // Jeans: Gap // Earrings & Boots: Borrowed

I bought this sweatshirt to wear as pajamas only (I swear!), but when I was looking around for what to wear to work on Halloween, I just couldn't resist. It's the spookiest shirt that I own, plus it's just plain fun walking into an elementary school dressed as a kitty cat. And although I should maybe be feeling embarrassed to be rocking a cat shirt, I'm actually just wishing I had some pointy ears to complete the outfit. Of course, even with the ears, I couldn't compete with Lauren's husband this year. I won't give it away in case she shares pictures, but Jared is bringing work costumes to a whole new level.

Happy Halloween, y'all!

Daily Look: Wrap it Up

Dress: Ann Taylor // Shoes: Nine West // Earrings: Loft // Bracelets: James Avery // Sunglasses: via Marshall's

I got this dress during an end-of-season clearance, but after the chilly temperatures we had the last couple of weeks, I wondered if I'd need to wait until next year to wear it. Of course, I should've known better than that, as it was plenty warm for it this week. That's Texas for ya. I like that this dress is a faux wrap--I've had wrap dresses in the past, but they're always a leetle bit scary when a gust of wind comes around. This baby isn't going anywhere, plus I don't need to perform acrobatics to get it on!

Are you a fan of a (faux) wrap dress?

Daily Look: Pilfered Purple

Blouse: Loft // Skirt: Ann Taylor // Shoes: Bandolino via DSW // Earrings: Francesca's // Rings: Vintage

This skirt is another item that used to live in Lauren's closet. She didn't like the way it looked on her, so I lucked out. I have been surprised about how many things I have to wear with my new-to-me purple skirt; it's basically become a neutral.  Is it bad that I'm so happy that it didn't fit Lauren?

Daily Look: Beaded and Black

Sweater: Ann Taylor // Pants: Zara // Shoes: Libby Edelman via Marshall's // Bracelets: J. Crew, James Avery // Earrings: The Limited // Sunglasses: Cole Haan via Marshall's

I used to think that short-sleeved sweaters were nonsensical. After all, if it's chilly enough for a sweater, wouldn't you also want your arms covered by long sleeves? Of course, I eventually discovered that as long as they're thin enough, they can be the perfect transitional pieces for those not-all-that-cold autumn days. But you know what still doesn't make sense to me? Open-toed boots. Just...why? Do some people enjoy having freezing cold toes? I don't.

Are you a fan of short-sleeved sweaters, or do you prefer your arms to be fully covered when you wear a sweater? And do open-toed boots make any more sense to you than they do to me? Feel free to explain.

Daily Look: Butterfly in the Sky

Sweater: J. Crew // Jeans: Urban Outfitters // Shoes: Converse via Marshall's // Earrings: Francesca's // Bracelet: Loft

Lauren found her purple converse earlier in the year on clearance at Marshall's, but they didn't have my size. Then, during a trip to the store in Plano, where I was filled with the thrill of getting to shop until ten (yes, I squealed over the extended hours),  I found a pair of my very own. Of course, mine were only on sale, not on clearance, but it was still a good price. Ever since, I have been wearing them all over the place, and they've gotten quite the reception. Everyone from age seven to seventy seems to be a Chuck's fan!

Daily Look: Sic 'em Bears!

Shirt: Congress Clothing // Corduroys: Gap // Booties: Sam Edelman // Bracelets: Forever 21 // Earrings: Vintage

I wore this outfit yesterday to celebrate my alma mater, Baylor University, whose football team has been having an amazing season; they're ranked higher than they've ever been during my lifetime. I got this t-shirt last weekend when Sam, my husband Jared, and I met up with one of our best friends from college in Waco for Baylor's Homecoming weekend. It was my first time spending time on campus since we graduated over five years ago, and we had so much fun touring campus, checking out our old dorm, eating at our favorite haunts, and cheering for the Bears at a 71-7 blowout of a football game.

Here are some pictures from the weekend.
