Daily Look: Casual Thursday

Shirt, Corduroys: Gap // Sweater: Banana Republic // Boots: Sam Edelman // Necklace: Ann Taylor // Sunglasses: Ray-Ban

We had an extra jeans day at my school yesterday, so I wore this purpley casual outfit. My room has been blazing hot all week, so I went the safe route and wore a thin, sleeveless top, even though it was cold enough this morning that I had to scrape ice off of my car. Luckily, I threw a cardigan over it because my classroom was a bit on the chilly side. Go figure.

Daily Look: Consigned Designs

Dress: Ann Taylor (consigned) // Sweater: Banana Republic // Shoes: Ann Taylor Factory //  Earrings: Gift // Rings: Vintage // Tights: Loft

Lauren turned me on to consignment shopping last summer and accompanied me on several trips to a great place just down the road from my house in San Antonio.  This was definitely my favorite piece I've found on consignment so far, and wearing it today reminded me that I need to explore some shops here in Plano.  I have a feeling that there may be some really great deals to be found up here.  Google, here I come!

Runway to Reality: Bottega Veneta Fall 2014

While it may not have been the glitziest or most glamorous runway, Bottega Veneta's Fall 2014 show was one of my favorites for sheer wearability. I felt like I could wear the looks straight off the runway, and I would be completely comfortable and warm while doing it, with its cozy sweaters and skirts. Sweater + skirt + boots has long been my go-to winter outfit at work, so of course I was a sucker for this look.

I love how the sweater is chunky yet structured at the waist, and the skirt has such a flattering shape. And of course, it would be super-crazy-easy to re-create this look on a more modest budget. Here's what I came up with:

Runway to Reality

Doesn't that sweater look perfect to snuggle up in on a cold day like today? Would you wear this look?

Daily Look: Glints of Gold

Jacket, Sweater, & Pants: Loft // Shoes: Mia via Endless // Earrings: Gift // Rings: Limited, Madewell, Vintage

Unfortunately the cold returned today, so it is back to jackets and cold feet!  I may not be a fan of the chilly weather, but I do love my navy blazer.  I'd love it even more if it didn't attract so much cat hair.  I was feeling pretty fly, but I had one kid remove hairs from my shoulder while asking if I had cats, and another ask me why my hair was sticking up today!  Guess you can't win them all... and elementary students are bound to let you know when you fail.  Hopefully tomorrow I will get my frizz under control and meet their approval.

Daily Look: On the Road

Shirt: Gap // Jeans, Rings: Madewell // Shoes: Converse via Marshall's // Necklace: Urban Outfitters // Watch: Seiko // Lips: Mary Kay Firecracker

I spent the weekend in Plano visiting Sam and checking out her sweet new digs (as well as eating a lot of delicious food). Yesterday, we headed back home to The Woodlands, and I wore this outfit during the drive back. I love that this shirt is so drapey and soft without looking overly loose and sloppy. It's the perfect shirt for when I want to be comfortable without looking like I just rolled out of bed.

How did you spend your weekend?

Wishlist: Spring 2014

Spring Wishlist

Seeing Lauren's wishlisted outfit yesterday made me realize that I haven't narrowed down what I'm looking for in a while.  Now that it's finally warming up, I definitely have spring fever. All I want to wear are airy tops, bright colors, and floral prints! I would also really like to find some pink shoes. I think they would go with a ton of my clothes and give every outfit a little pop of cuteness.  And those shorts? They must be mine.

Daily Look: Wishlisted

Blouse, Pants, Bracelets: Ann Taylor // Shoes: Nine West // Earrings: Banana Republic // Ring: Madewell // Watch: Seiko // Sunglasses: via Marshall's // Lips: MAC Rebel

This outfit, I just realized, is made up of several items that spent a lot of time on my 2013 wishlist Pinterest board. I tend to pin things I like and watch them like a hawk until they go on sale, a shopping strategy that keeps me focused on the items I want the most so that I don't spend too much money on pieces I don't really need (using the word need incredibly loosely, obviously). I snapped up this blouse during a 50% off markdowns sale, and my husband got me these pants for Christmas and the watch for my birthday. He likes Pinterest almost as much as I do because he gets a ready-made shopping list.

Do you make wishlists? What's your favorite way to use Pinterest?
