Daily Look: New Year's Eve Sparkle
Sweater: Banana Republic // Tights: Ann Taylor // Booties: Nine West // Earrings: Francesca's // Bracelets: Ann Taylor, Forever 21
Although I wore this outfit while I was in San Antonio visiting my family, I thought that New Year's Eve would be an appropriate day to post this sparkle-heavy outfit. I tried to tone down the sequins just a tad by pairing them with opaque tights and a casual sweater, which let this shiny skirt take center stage. I'll be wearing this same skirt tonight, only I plan to wear a different sweater as I ring in the new year at Epcot. Here's wishing all of you a happy new year!
What are you wearing for New Year's Eve? Will you be incorporating sequins into your outfit?

Daily Look: Baby, It's Cold Outside
Sweater: Loft // Jeans & Rings: Madewell // Booties: Matisse via Piperlime // Hair Clip: Anthropologie
I'm back!! As you may have noticed, I haven't had many pictures up in the past couple of weeks. Lauren has been wonderful about picking up the slack while I packed up and headed north on I35 to my new home in Plano. Now that the crush of finishing up the semester at my former school, putting everything I own into boxes, moving, unpacking, and turning right back around to celebrate the holidays in San Antonio is over, let's get to some fashion!
Santa added some exciting new items in my wardrobe, but these pictures were actually taken on Christmas Eve, so they're oldies but goodies. This is my absolute favorite holiday sweater because it is big, cozy, and looks like it could have come straight out of Mrs. Claus's closet. I didn't dress up as much as I usually do on Christmas Eve (I may or may not have left all of my dressy clothes in the new apartment), but I think I made up for it with holiday cheer. I was looking festive right down to my green and red socks!

Daily Look: Accidental Beatnik
Sweater: Banana Republic // Jeans: BDG via Urban Outfitters // Booties: Matisse via Piperlime // Earrings: The Limited // Bracelet: H&M // Rings: Madewell // Nails: Sally Hansen Celeb City // Lips: MAC Peach Blossom // Sunglasses: Cole Haan via Marshall's
I wore this black on black on black outfit to the movies yesterday to see Saving Mr. Banks with my husband and in-laws (it was very entertaining, by the way). All day, my husband referred to me as a beatnik. I think that I would have to have a beret to truly characterize this outfit as a beat costume, but I got his point. Thing is, sometimes you just want to wear something easy, especially when you're getting dressed out of a suitcase, and going monochromatic certainly fits the bill. Later today, I'm off to spend a few days in San Antonio before heading to Disney World with Sam and my husband.
Do you ever wear head-to-toe black (or any other color)? How are you spending your holidays?

Daily Look: Sensing a Theme
Sweater, Skirt: Loft // Booties, Necklace: Urban Outfitters // Bracelets: H&M, Banana Republic, Ann Taylor // Earrings: Francesca's // Sunglasses: Target
I unintentionally wore some shade of purple or plum in all of my posts this week, but it kind of makes sense considering what a perfect fall and winter shade it is. I love the color of this skirt because it's vibrant and saturated, yet it can pretty much be treated as a neutral, making it both fun and versatile. So versatile, in fact, that I have a feeling I'll be getting a ton of use out of it this winter--I could barely decide what to wear it with because I found so many things in my closet that would look good with it.
What clothes have you been reaching for over and over again lately?

Roundup: Sleepwear
It is a tradition in our family that we are allowed to open one gift on Christmas Eve. This present always contains a new pair of pajamas that we then put on and wear for pretty much the entire Christmas break. This year we have broken from tradition a bit and tried to find our own new pairs of jammies since Lauren and I both had a pretty good idea of what we were looking for. Lauren has been wanting some cute lounge pants for ages, and I am in the market for some pajama pants that reach past mid-calf.
As a person of slightly above average height, I have such a hard time finding anything that doesn't shrink into capris after one wash. I thought my problems were solved when Lauren told me that Old Navy now offers tall sizes, but I tried them on and it seems that I am too tall for regulars and too short for talls. I guess I had better stick to sleepshirts and shorts!

Daily Look: Preppy/Edgy
Jacket: Sanctuary via Piperlime // Jeans: Gift // Sweater: Merona via Goodwill // Shirt: J. Crew // Booties: Asos // Earrings: Loft // Sunglasses: Cole Haan via Marshall's
I wore this combination of preppy and edgy layers this past weekend. While I wouldn't normally think to pair a cable knit sweater/oxford combination with a moto jacket, I needed a not-too-heavy outer layer, so I went with it. I ended up liking the way the two different styles mixed with each other, but even more, I liked all the shades of purple. I ended up having a very purpley (yep, that's totally a word) week, in fact.
What did you wear this weekend? Do you mix styles or do you like to go one route with your outfits?

Roundup: Plaid Please!
Around this time of year, every piece of clothing in plaid starts calling my name. While plaid jammies are always a favorite, my love goes much further! I'm talking plaid shirts, skirts, scarves...plaid pretty much anything. This coat from J. Crew is so swoon-worthy that it's making me think that I may just need a shorter coat. Of course it would have to go on clearance before I could even think of adding it to my closet. A girl can dream...
Do you like plaid, or leave it to lumberjacks and Scottie dogs?
