Last week, I attended a continuing education course at a local school where we were told to dress in layers to account for the chilly air conditioning. Each morning as I was getting ready, I'd suppress my urge to reach for a pair of shorts and open my jeans drawer instead. It was our hottest week of the year, so the walks to and from my car were sticky and uncomfortable, but I figured that was the price I'd have to pay to avoid 8 hours of shivering.
