Goodbye!

After almost three and a half years and nearly 1,000 posts, we have made the decision to discontinue twIn Style. We've had so much fun posting outfits and sharing our style with each other and you. Runway to Reality: Red Valentino Fall 2014

Lauren has been telling me about the extreme cuteness that is Red Valentino for quite a while, but it wasn't until I saw a blogger on my Instagram feed wearing this shirt that I truly understood.  A swan head collar?!  It's so amazing that I can't even stand it.  Since that beauty caught my eye, I started looking through the collection archives on style.com to see what else I've been missing.  This adorable outfit especially caught my eye because it's actually pretty achievable.

A sweater with a bow front blouse underneath is already a staple of my cold weather wardrobe, but I never would have thought to combine prints this way.  I really love how the solid colored sweater breaks both prints up and changes the look from busy to fun and polished.  And although I probably wouldn't be bold enough to wear socks with heels myself, this model sure makes it look cute!

Although Red Valentino is supposed to be a more affordable line, on an educator's salary it just ain't happening!  Luckily I was able to create something very similar for a fraction of the cost.  If only there was a way for me to get an affordable version of that swan shirt!

I was getting ready in a hurry yesterday morning, and I wasn't sure what I wanted to wear, but during my frantic search for something to wear, I happened upon a combination that I ended up really liking. As much as I love a mismatched look, I am, deep down, a sucker for matching, and the pink flowers of this top ended up matching the pink threads in the tweed almost perfectly.

This is an outfit that I wore on my drive home from Lauren's after Thanksgiving break.  My car was loaded down with a Christmas tree, ornaments, gumbo, Thanksgiving leftovers, and my toiletries.  What was notably missing were my clothes!  I somehow left all of my hanging clothes including my coat and two jackets in the closet of my room at Lauren's apartment.  I was so mad at myself, but what are ya gonna do?  At least I'll be seeing them soon during winter break!  I miss you leather jacket!  Oh, and you too Lala!



Have you ever forgotten anything after a trip?  I'd be lying if I said this was the first time I've left a coat behind.

For most of the country, fall has pretty much come and gone, but here in The Woodlands we're just now getting some fall color. I'm definitely more the type to wear black than brown, and I typically prefer cool colors, but today I ended up in classically autumnal shades of camel, gold, and chocolate (other than an errant pink streak that still hasn't washed out of my hair).



Is it still fall where you are, or is it full on winter?

I'm back in Plano and back at work today, and I'm definitely missing the fun times I had in The Woodlands over Thanksgiving break.  This was an outfit that I wore a few times over the break after I picked up the sweater and earrings on a shopping trip with Lauren.  We actually did the shopping before Black Friday, sticking to our tradition of avoiding the crowds and shopping on our laptops.  I just about wrapped up my Christmas shopping and am ready for winter break to get here already!  Only three more weeks!
