Daily Look: Ruffled Ribbons

Blouse: Joie via Bluefly // Pants: Express // Shoes: Nine West // Bracelets: Forever 21, Annie Gogglyn // Earrings: Loft // Sunglasses: Ray-Ban // Lips: MAC Girl About Town

I don't know why, but somehow this top got stuck at the back of my closet, and I managed to forget about it. I haven't worn it in quite awhile, which is a shame because I love it. My husband gave me this extra-ruffly blouse several Christmases ago, but it's still one of my favorites. I'm such a fan of shirts with lots of details, and this one has them in spades, from the multiple rows of ruffles to the pintucking. And even though I've spent more hours than I'd care to admit virtual shopping the Bluefly website, this is one of the only items I've actually bought from there!

Are you a fan of ruffles? Have you ever bought anything from Bluefly?

Daily Look: Pleats Please

Blouse: J. Crew // Skirt: Asos // Shoes: Bandolino via Endless // Earrings: Etsy // Ring: Vintage

Well, as you can see, a little someone wanted some blog time today! I was feeling quite cute until I realized I was being upstaged by this adorable rascal, Chomper. We all have indoor cats, but sometimes my mom's escape into the backyard to do a little exploring. Like me, Chomper seems to be enjoying the last few days of bearable weather until the summer really hits. Too bad he can't switch from fur to cotton!

Daily Look: It's a Wrap

Dress: Banana Republic Factory // Shoes: Bandolino via DSW // Bracelets: NY and Co., James Avery // Earrings: Loft // Sunglasses: Ray-Ban

Thank you, Diane von Furstenberg, for inventing the wrap dress! It's one of my favorite fashion-related innovations. What I love about wrap dresses is that they're as easy to wear as a robe, yet they're flattering on nearly any figure. While I don't have the funds for a DVF original, this silk version fits the bill well enough. I just have to be careful on windy days--this baby flows!

Are you a fan of wrap dresses? Does yours get swept up in gusts of wind like mine does?

Daily Look: Pink Lady

Shirt: Banana Republic // Skirt: Express // Shoes: BC Footwear via Endless // Necklace: Forever 21 // Earrings: Francesca's // Bow Bracelet: H&M // Beaded Bracelet: Vintage

I am keeping it happy and bright for the last week of school! Although most of my kids have been out since before Memorial Day, I am busier than ever, so I'm hoping cheerful colors will keep me positive during this last stretch.  I feel like a real girly girl in this sherbet pink skirt and my pink striped shirt to match. The pink stripes are actually so light that they didn't really show up in the photos, so you're going to have to trust me on this one. I'm sure regular readers will have no trouble believing that I have another striped cotton shirt in my wardrobe!

Dear twIN STYLE: What do I wear to a summer concert?

Hello LaLa and Sam!

Since it's summertime, it's also time for outdoor concert season. I'm looking for a couple of options that are lightweight, cute, and breathable. ObiWan(s), you're my only hope...

Summer Concert

When I think lightweight, cute, and breathable, I think of cotton sundresses. They're perfect because they look adorable, yet they're nearly as comfortable as pajamas. I'd go with one that has a full skirt because it will allow you to sit on the ground without flashing anybody. Pair it with sandals, sunglasses, some cute (but not flashy) jewelry, and a small cross-body bag to stash your keys, phone, sunscreen, and favorite lip balm. If a dress is a little too, well, dressy for you, I'd replace it with a floaty button-down and a casual skirt or your favorite pair of shorts.

Are you going to any concerts this summer? If so, who are you seeing, and what do you plan to wear? My husband and I are seeing Radiohead in a week, and I will probably obsess over what to wear until the last second.

Daily Look: Short Change

Shirt: H&M // Shorts: Banana Republic // Shoes: Vans via Urban Outfitters // Earrings: Target // Ring: Vintage // Necklace: Janey Christine's

I have been wearing this shirt and these shorts all the time lately, so it was inevitable that they would eventually end up together. I'm not used to the heat yet, so shorts and breezy tops are a must. The only thing better would be a swimsuit...I might have to change into that later! This is the only time of year that I get jealous of Lauren up in Indiana. What wardrobe pieces keep you cool in the summer?

Daily Look: Gray in May

Sweater: Banana Republic // Pants: Zara // Shoes: Nine West // Bracelets: J. Crew, H&M

We've been having some very strange weather lately. Last weekend, we blasted through the old record high by several degrees, and it was hotter here than it was in San Antonio. But that all changed yesterday when the temperatures took a nosedive and the sun decided to hide behind the clouds. It was a gray, windy day that felt more like November than May. It felt strange to be putting a sweater on post-Memorial Day--I mean, I'd already relegated them to the back of my closet--but I'd rather be comfortable in a sweater than freezing in a summery outfit. To offset the weirdness, I opted for the brightest sweater in my closet. Thankfully, the warm temperatures are set to return Saturday. Here's hoping!
