Daily Look: Sail Away

Shirt: ModCloth // Skirt: Urban Outfitters // Shoes: J. Crew // Earrings: Francesca's // Ring: Asos

I am all about breezy cotton this summer, so I am loving this outfit. And the colors are so patriotic that I'm feeling like it's Independence Day. Sadly, we are closer to the end of summer than to the beginning. Have you started seeing the back to school ads yet? They are as heartbreaking to me now as they were when I was in elementary school. School is great and all, but nothing beats summer in my book.

Daily Look: Watermelon Inspired

Shirt: Olive & Oak via Marshall's // Shorts, Shoes: Gap // Bracelet: Forever 21

Although I don't enjoy eating watermelon, I do think they're gorgeous to look at, so I like putting together outfits inspired by their colors. Let's be honest: pink and green just belong together. Not only do these colors feel summery, but the fabrics also scream warm weather to me. If I could wear chiffon and eyelet every day during the summer, I would.

What colors do you like wearing during the summer? And what are you favorite warm-weather fabrics?

Daily Look: Cut Off

Shirt: Forever 21 // Shorts: Gap // Shoes: Keds via Marshall's // Ring: Vintage

I wore this outfit to run errands to prepare for the road trip that I am now on! I needed my comfy new sneakers to lug the piles of snacks and desserts we giddily purchased up to the apartment before we left. We health-conscious, veggie eaters may have overdone it on the vacation groceries (yeah...5 bags of chips for 3 people might be excessive), so I am hoping all of my clothes still fit when we get back! We are having a great time, and can't wait to share pictures with you when we return!

Summer Road Trip Packing List

Sam, my husband Jared, and I are off on our New Orleans/Destin, Florida road trip, so here's a look at the clothes I packed in my suitcase.

Road Trip Packing List

Okay, I took more than 7 items with me, but this is basically what I packed, sometimes in multiples. I brought bikinis, breezy sleeveless tops, sundresses, cover-ups, shorts, sandals, and a summery skirt. It's amazing how much easier (and less heavy!) it is to pack for a summer trip than it is for a winter one. But even though clothes weren't taking up much room in the car, it's still stuffed to the gills with snacks (we seriously went crazy), drinks, coolers, beach gear, sunscreen, and games.

What do you pack when you go on a summer road trip? Are you as crazy about beach snacks as we are?

Daily Look: Tribal Tee

Shirt: BDG via Urban Outfitters // Skirt: Target  // Shoes: J. Crew // Earrings: Francesca's

This is a shirt that I wear around the house a ton, but I don't know that I've ever taken pictures in it. It may be because I tend to pair it with the pajama bottoms and giant glasses I sport when I am at home. You guys don't need to see that. Luckily my need for more short-sleeved shirts led me to wear it with more socially acceptable clothing, and I really like it! Hopefully it enjoyed seeing the light of day. Unfortunately, my other pajama shirts are not going to get the same opportunity. Sorry 5th grade class shirt, I just don't see you going with any of my skirts.

Daily Look: Hibiscus Flowers

Dress: H&M // Shoes: Loft // Bracelet: James Avery

Hibiscus produce some of the most beautiful flowers, and they always remind me of summer, so they're the perfect fit for this sundress. I've been getting a ton of use out of it all summer because I can throw it on as easily as a t-shirt and it's just as comfortable, making it the perfect fit for the ridiculously hot, steamy weather we've been dealing with. And to think, I almost didn't buy it because I already had it in pink!

What clothes have you been living in all summer? Are you ready for cooler weather yet?

Roundup: Animal Prints

animal instincts

I have never been drawn to clothing with animal prints. Even though I know that they aren't the skins of actual animals, and even though I wear leather, I just have this thing about them. But the trend of prints with the pictures of whole animals? I am fully on board! I am loving the menagerie that has been showing up in stores lately, from woodland creatures to jungle beasts. I love my cat print skirt, and recently picked up these bee earrings from Target. And Lauren found a really cool zebra print shirt the other day that I'm sure she will be debuting soon for you.

How do you feel about wearing animals on your clothing?
