Dear twIN STYLE: What do I wear to a March wedding?

Dear twIN STYLE,

I have a fashion conundrum! On March 10th, I will be a bridesmaid in my best friend's wedding. She wants us to pick out our own bridesmaid dresses. The only parameters she's given us are: something we feel pretty in and preferably floral. The tricky part is that the wedding is an outside wedding in the evening in TX so the temperature could be pleasant or quite cold. Also, having a 2 month old baby, I'm back to a size 4 (hopefully I'll be a size 2 again by March) but my abs are...well...not as toned as I'd like them to be so I need something a little forgiving in the tummy department. And the dress will need to have buttons or a low v-neck that makes it nursing friendly (and a little extra room in the bust). And if that's not enough of a challenge...what do I do for SHOES?! I think the wedding will be informal enough for cowboy boots but what are my other options? It's a challenge that I would only trust to twIN STYLE!

Your admiring reader,

Haley

I love wedding fashions, so I was way too excited to get this letter! I included flats and wedges for the shoes since it is an outdoor wedding (heels in the mud are the worst), and chose full skirts to accentuate your hourglass figure. As for the possibility of a chilly night, I usually forgo the pashmina in favor of a thick cardigan with a dress. I like the casual, yes I'm beautiful and dressed to the nines, but I'm also as snug as bug air that it lends. Or, even better, dance so hard that you break a sweat! Can't wait to see pictures!

Daily Look: Layered and Laced

Shirt: Ann Taylor // Sweater: Loft // Skirt: J. Crew // Tights: Francesca's // Booties: Urban Outfitters // Bracelets: Forever 21 // Earrings: Banana Republic

I love the idea of layered clothes--what's not to like about extra protection from the cold that also looks cute?--but I have a hard time finding pieces in my closet that look right together. Sometimes I try and fail, realizing that my upper body looks like it's been stuffed with marshmallows. That said, I really enjoyed the way this pairing turned out; the peek of leopard makes this outfit a lot more fun. It also gave me a chance to wear my new lace-up booties, which were an early birthday present from Sam, for the first time. I love 'em!

Daily Look: Military Time

Jacket: Loft // Sweater: Banana Republic // Jeans: Gap // Shoes: Mia vis Endless // Earrings: Francesca's

I love the structure and polish that this jacket adds to an outfit. It really kicks casual Friday up and notch, and it's almost as warm as a coat. I tend to get cold during the day, so having a professional looking jacket is a real lifesaver.

Daily Look: The Bee's Knees

Sweater, Tights, Watch: Asos // Skirt: Banana Republic // Shoes: Nine West via endless.com // Earrings: Francesca's

I've been afraid to pair yellow with black for as long as I can remember. After all, I don't want to look like a bumblebee! In fact, in fourth grade, I stubbornly refused to wear our class t-shirt on field day because it involved this dreaded color combination. But I guess today's outfit proves that I'm getting over my fears, though I still had to separate the two with a layer of gray. My nine-year-old self would be horrified, but I think I'm actually starting to like the bumblebee look.

Daily Look: White Collar

Sweater: J. Crew // Blouse: Ann Taylor Factory Store // Skirt: Target // Shoes: Aldo // Earrings: Francesca's

When she saw this blouse, years ago on a trip to the outlet mall, my cousin said, "Sam is going to buy that." How well she knows me. Although it is now too short to wear alone, I still get a ton of use out of it, wearing it under sweaters and cardigans for added interest. Oh, and don't mind my crazy hair in this post, the wind was not my friend today!

Daily Look: Bright Idea

Blouse: Missoni for Target // Skirt: Banana Republic // Tights: Nicole Miller // Shoes: Nine West

My mom scooped up this Missoni for Target blouse way after the madness died down and gave it to me for Christmas. I shied away from this site-crashing collection, as most of the best pieces were sold out within hours, but I'm glad my mom was able to find this fun top. I love the pattern and the colors, which really pop on a cold winter day.

Daily Look: Chambray Wishes

Shirt and Bracelet: H&M // Skirt: Gap // Tights: Target // Shoes: Aldo // Earrings: Etsy

I have pretty long legs, so I always thought that I couldn't do a mini. I remember getting in trouble as a pre-teen for dress code violations, while shorter girls flitted by in hardly anything, just because everything seems shorter on me. But, I have finally decided that, with tights and flats, they are within my reach! The overall look is quite conservative, so no stops in the office for me today!
