I wore this outfit yesterday to do some shopping with Sam. Truth be told, I actually returned a lot more than I bought (just one pair of shoes), so that totally counts as making money on the deal, and I refuse to believe otherwise. You see, despite the fact that my husband and the UPS guy think I'm a shopaholic hoarder, I don't keep everything I buy online. Sometimes it doesn't fit, sometimes it looks different in person, and sometimes you realize why it went on sale in the first place. So, for every online shopping spree I have, there will be a brick-and-mortar returning spree within a few weeks.

As you may be able to tell from my change of background, I am visiting Lauren and Jared in The Woodlands this week.  When I got here, I complained about the horrible haircuts I've been getting since moving to Plano (Diana in San Antonio, I miss you!), but big sis came to the rescue.  She bravely gave me a whole new haircut, saving me from the expense and frustration of going to yet another salon.  My neck feels so free! Thank you, Lala!

Daily Look: Baby Shower Blues

I wore this outfit to a baby shower over the weekend and arrived to a sea of blue dresses. I don't know if it's the fact that blue seems to be the only color available in stores right now (see evidence here, here, and here), the fact that the mommy-to-be is expecting a boy, or some combination of the two, but we looked about as color-coordinated as a Kardashian wedding.

Daily Look: Pool Party

I wore this outfit to hang out by the pool with friends this weekend.  When I got this hat, I wasn't sure if I'd end up wearing it much, but I actually really like it.  I've always had big floppy hats in the past, but baseball caps are nice because there is no fear that it will fly off in the event that any amount of wind blows.  It also keeps the sun out of my eyes nicely.  Now if I can just get rid of my fear that I will be mistaken for a boy, I will be a big fan!

Roundup: The Best New Earring Trends

It's summer, school's out, and I'll be honest: I don't wear jewelry as often during the warmer months as I do during the rest of the year. No, it doesn't make me any hotter to have a bracelet on, and no, it doesn't take more than a few seconds to grab some earrings before I head out, but the fact is, summer makes me lazy, and the casual clothes I typically wear don't exactly scream for jewelry. That said, I can't help it. I've been thinking about earrings and noticing that there's a whole new crop of them to choose from. For just about as long as I can remember, there were only so many types of earrings. You had your hoops, your studs, your danglers, and that was about it. But now, there are so many more types available, so I put together some of my favorite new earring trends.

Will you be trying out any of these new earring styles? Which ones are your favorites? I just bought the tunnel chain earrings and the Madewell embellished hoops, plus a full ear cuff from H&M (not pictured here), but I'd love to get a mini cuff and an ear jacket.

Although mixing patterns can be tricky, kittens and flowers just go together, right?  I unwittingly stayed on theme by wearing my cat printed skirt to pick up supplies for Uzi and Pickle at the pet store yesterday.  I think if I had thought about it while I was there, I would have been embarrassed, but in hindsight it was pretty funny.  I guess if anyone is going to forgive you for being a crazy cat lady, it's the other crazy cat lady stocking up on catnip in the next aisle.

Daily Look: The Color of the Summer

I subscribe to A LOT of brands' emails (gotta get them discounts!), and for the past few weeks, it seems like every day I open a new one informing me that white is the color for summer. Basically, if you leave the house wearing a color other than white, you are making a HUGE fashion mistake and should probably be arrested by the fashion police because what were you thinking??!! Now, I'll be honest. I really like white, especially during the summer, but I do have a tendency to shy away from white clothing because I'm afraid I'll stain it (and, continuing with the honesty, I probably will). That being said, I went ahead and pulled the trigger on this comfy white sack dress, and, so far, I've successfully managed to navigate two potentially messy meals, so give me a medal, y'all.
