Daily Look: Professional Crop
Shirt: Express // Skirt: Ann Taylor // Necklace: Banana Republic // Earrings: Target // Rings: Madewell, Gift // Shoes: Zara // Bracelet: Gift // Watch: Seiko // Nails: UO Bandeau // Lips: Revlon Certainly Red // Sunglasses: Ray-Ban
I went with another crop top for work yesterday, this time layering a black camisole underneath to make sure I wouldn't be flashing any midriff should I decide to move my arms or bend over. I really like how the cropped silhouette makes my torso appear a little bit shorter, hopefully making my not-super-long legs look a tad bit longer by comparison. And have I mentioned that this top was $10? Well, it needed to be said.
Would you (or have you already) wear a crop top to work? Are you liking this new silhouette as much as I am?

Daily Look: New Lengths
Blouse: Loft // Skirt: Asos // Shoes: Jessica Simpson via Marshall's // Ring: Madewell // Bracelet: H&M // Earrings: Target
I spend so much of my time this year on the floor with kindergarten students that my pencil skirts are going the way of the dinosaurs. They're just too hard to crawl around in, and getting back up is even harder. With this in mind, I decided to try out a full midi skirt. I always love them when I see them in pictures, but every time I try one on I find them unflattering. I'm pretty tall, but they cut off my legs so much that I feel like I look about six inches shorter.
I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and ordered this skirt from Asos, and while it certainly solved my teaching on the floor problem, I still just don't like the way I look. I hoped that the mirror was lying to me, but looking at these pictures I think it's time to admit that I am just not a midi person. I guess I should start looking for more work pants!
What do you think of midi skirts?

Daily Look: Flippy Skirt
Sweater, Earrings: Loft // Skirt: Ann Taylor // Rings: Madewell // Shoes: Nine West // Nails: Urban Outfitters Blue Velvet // Toes: UO Absinthe
My husband gave me this skirt for Christmas last year, and even though I've worn it several times since then, this is the first chance I've had the opportunity to snap some pictures of it. I love it because it actually hits at my waist (something that is so hard to find in a skirt) and it has a fun, flippy shape. Is it the second animal print skirt I've worn in the last week? Yes, yes it is. Do I have yet another waiting in my closet? Yes, yes I do.
Are you a fan of flippy skirts? Do you wear a lot of animal prints?

Daily Look: College Week
Shirt: Congress Clothing // Sweater: Baylor Bookstore // Jeans & Rings: Madewell // Shoes: Steve Madden via Marshall's // Earrings: Gift
This week is college week at work which means that we are (joy of joys) allowed to wear jeans every day with our college t-shirts. At Baylor, they always encouraged us to fill our closets with plenty of BU cotton, so I had more than enough shirts to pair with my beloved jeans. Yesterday was my favorite day because I went all out with a t-shirt and sweater showing my Baylor pride.
It's pretty awesome that so many people recognize Baylor now. Tons of my kids were asking me about my time there and some knew more than I do about our football team. RGIII really put us on the map!
Can I get a sic 'em?

Daily Look: Fit and Flare
Shirt: Express // Skirt: Asos // Shoes, Earrings: Ann Taylor // Sunglasses: Cole Haan via Marshall's // Rings: Madewell // Nails: UO Blue Velvet // Lips: Mary Kay Wild About Pink
One of the number one items on my back-to-school shopping list was full skirts. I pinned this fit-and-flare version from Asos months ago, hoping it would go on sale. Well, after several weeks spent stalking it, my patience was rewarded when it finally made its way into the sale section. I love how full and flouncy it is; it would definitely be great for dancing, but I went ahead and kept my sweet moves to myself at school today. (I was, however, forced to sing. It wasn't pretty).
Are you a fan of full skirts, or do you prefer a more streamlined aesthetic? To be honest, I like both, but I'm more drawn to flared skirts because they look better with flats!

Fall Shoe Obsession: Oxfords
I have never been one to get super excited about shoes. I like them fine, they get me from point a point b, but that's always been about it for me. But lately, my mind has been changing. I've started to think of shoes not as an afterthought, but as an essential part of an outfit. Pretty recently, I've even noticed myself planning outfits around the shoes I want to wear.
With my new-found love of footwear, I've suddenly noticed that I don't have nearly enough pairs! The list of types that I am wanting to add to my closet seems ever-growing (booties, over-the-knee boots, chunky heels...I could keep going). And although I recently found a pair that I love at Marshall's, I am still on the lookout for another pair of oxfords. I just love how they elevate casual looks and add an element of effortless cool. I think a metallic pair especially would be fun in the coming cooler months.
Are you a shoe person?
