Daily Look: Pink Petals

Blouse, Skirt, & Sweater: Loft // Shoes: Nine West // Tights: Target // Earrings: Francesca's // Bracelet: H&M

Something has gone terribly wrong. It's cold again! Just when I let down my guard and started browsing the internet for sandals, a cold front blew into town. Looking on the bright side, even though I hate to have cold fingers and toes, I am getting a little more wear out of my winter wardrobe. I had totally forgotten this ultra feminine blouse, because it is so hard to see sleeveless tops in my smooshed together closet. Finding it again was almost as exciting as buying something new!

Daily Look: Sailing Away

Sweater, Skirt: Loft // Boots, Shirt: Banana Republic // Tights: H&M

For this look, I decided to combine one nautical piece with another, layering a sailor tie blouse underneath a cable-knit sweater. While I usually associate nautical clothes with the spring and summer months, I love them at any time of year. I guess I just want to feel like a sailor without actually having to be one.

Twin Styled: Galentine's Day

Happy Galentines Day!

After watching the latest episode of Parks and Recreation, I was reminded of a holiday that I think is worth celebrating--Galentine's Day! On this soon-to-be-national holiday, women get together to talk about how awesome they are while feasting and telling stories. I love any event that involves mandatory compliments, so I think I am going to have to start this tradition with my friends.

Because this day is all about celebrating womanhood, I went for a very girly look that is too cute to waste on a boy. I know I always put more thought into what I will wear for hangouts with girls than guys since they are the ones who truly appreciate an outfit. Or maybe it's because you just can't count on a man to squeal over pink tights!

Daily Look: Urban Jungle

Shirt, Scarf: Forever 21 // Jacket: BB Dakota // Pants: Gap // Shoes: Banana Republic // Earrings: Loft

I built this look around my scarf, a birthday present from my husband. He knew that I would like it because I included it on one of my inspiration boards. He's a clever one*. I wanted the scarf to be the star of the show, so I kept the rest of the look simple, slipping on a leather jacket (also a gift from my husband--man, he's good!) for warmth.

*Or perhaps I am the clever one. Perhaps I created that board to give him ideas for birthday presents, all the while letting him think that it was his bright idea. Perhaps we'll never know.

Daily Look: Green and Gold

Sweater: Loft // Blouse: Original Penguin // Jeans: Gap // Shoes: Mia via Endless

I am a total Baylor girl today, sporting the colors of my alma mater in a more grown up fashion than the usual cotton t-shirt. Lauren's layering has inspired me to look through my closet to find new combinations, and I am loving it! I would have never put these together without seeing her recent posts, but now that I have, they seem made for each other. Go Lala!

Daily Look: Feeling Blue

Sweater: Loft // Shirt: Banana Republic // Skirt: Anthropologie // Bracelets: James Avery, Forever 21 // Tights: H&M // Shoes: Zara

Today I went for some tone-on-tone color blocking in varying shades of blue. While I don't normally wear this many colors at once, I have to say that I really like how this outfit turned out. I'm so glad that I no longer feel the need to stick with dark, somber colors during the winter months. Saturated, vibrant clothes help make an otherwise drab, gray day a lot more cheerful, don't you think?

Daily Look: Tied in Knots

Blouse: Anthropologie // Skirt: J. Crew // Shoes: Kimchi Blue via Urban Outfitters //Bracelets: H&M and vintage // Earrings: Gift

This is a simple look that is typical for me during this time of year. I knew I had to be on my feet quite a bit today, so flats were a necessity. I added a bit of interest by choosing dark textured tights to make my t-straps pop, and play against the pattern of the skirt. I think the pattern on pattern works here because they are both so subtle. Maybe one day I will be brave enough to try some bolder print combinations.
