After seeing so many slim, cropped pants on the Fall 2012 runways, I was pining for a black pair. Then I remembered an old black pair of dress pants that's been taking up room in my closet for awhile, and decided to go the DIY route. I used iron-on hem tape to "crop" these, and it took about 10 minutes to get a (free!) new pair of pants.

Being addicted to the sixties as I am, I went for a look that was a little Mrs. Robinson for my mom's birthday dinner. The outfit is somewhat appropriate as she, like Mrs. Robinson, is one foxy mom (but without all the cigarette smoking and seduction). I just hope her inability to age runs in the family! I love you, Mama! Happy Birthday!

This outfit is full of pieces with charming, girlish details that I'm a total sucker for. From the ruffles and polka dots on my blouse to the pleats on my skirt (not to mention my Mary Janes), this look just says "Aren't I sweet?"

I am so thrilled for spring that I just had to pull out some florals. This loose silk blouse is perfect for the warm weather, but still gives some waist definition with a bowed back. I can't believe how perfectly these three dollar shoes match with my blouse, and I get to show off my pedicure while wearing closed toed shoes!

No, I'm not rolling up my sleeves because I've got lots of hard work to do. And I'm not rolling them up because I'm a millionaire politician who needs to seem like an Average Joe (or Joan). I'm rolling up my sleeves because it's still warm enough (yay!).

I love long-sleeved button-downs because you can wear them year-round and always feel comfortable. This one is particularly great because the fabric doesn't even wrinkle when I roll up the sleeves, and it's nice and breezy. I can tell I'll be getting a lot of use out it!

This was an outfit that I wore to run errands yesterday. I originally bought this skirt to wear with tights during the winter, but the surprisingly hot weather inspired me to boldly bare my legs. I think the boyish details of the plaid button up and oxford sneakers balance well with the feminine mini skirt, allowing me to feel comfortable and cute while marking items off of my to do list.

Screen Style: Betty from Mad Men

Can you believe that Mad Men is finally coming back tonight? It's been so long since I've spent time with the ladies and gents of Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce that I've probably forgotten lots of key storylines. I'm really counting on the recap at the beginning of the show to get me all caught up!

Without question, the beautiful costumes are a major part of the fun of watching Mad Men. And although she's certainly not my favorite character, Betty Francis (formerly Draper) is the owner of my favorite wardrobe. In honor of tonight's episode, I decided to recreate one of Betty's signature looks: her riding outfit. Of course Betty has a closet full of glamorous dresses, but her chic, no-hair-out-of-place take on equestrian style is too perfect not to love.
