It's another day of shimmer and shine for me. My mom gave me this sequined sweater for Christmas many years ago, but I'm still in love with it. Around this time every year, I break it out of my closet and take it for a spin. And let me tell you, it's a crowd-pleaser. My students were commenting all day long about how I had my swag on. For those of you who don't spend all day with teenagers, look it up on urban dictionary.

Today's look is all about my new motorcycle jacket. I have been envying the jackets worn by the Britta character on Community for ages, and I finally found one of my very own. It's hilarious how much wearing this jacket alters my mood. I've taken to imagining that I am way cooler than I am, and I had fight the urge to strike a Billy Idol lip curl all day. Rock on!

Although I like sparkles and shiny things at any time of year--I'm definitely part magpie--the holidays are the perfect time of year to break out the bling. My hands even got in on the action with the help of a little nail art.

Today I was inspired by Lauren's 'Cranberry Sauce' post and broke up a basic black look with some colorful tights. This dress has a great silhouette, and the sweater material, along with the giant fuzzy socks I have hiding under my boots, is keeping me nice and warm. It may not be Indiana cold, but our temperatures are definitely dropping.

The Accessorizer: Stocking Stuffers

I love stockings because when you hit that sad point when all of the presents have been unwrapped, they are always there to save the day. All the sudden, someone will have an inspiring thought: the stockings! Here are just a few goodies that I wouldn't mind finding in my stocking this year. Warm weather accessories, makeup, and nail polish are often found in ours, along with plenty of sweet treats. Yum!

Despite its association with a certain summertime celebration, I love the combination of red, white, and blue at any time of year. I'm also a huge fan of toggles, and am glad that I'm seeing more of them lately. Believe it or not, I've had this coat since my senior year of high school; for those of you keeping score, that means it's heading into its ninth winter. It's always wonderful when you can keep coming back to a classic piece of clothing year after year.

This look is full of elements that are inspired by the shapes of nature. My bracelet and earrings have leaves, my cuff and skirt are floral, and I'm even wearing a tulip skirt! I keep reading that floral patterns are a big trend right now, but I guess I never noticed that they ever went away. I've always been a big fan of floral prints, and I can't see that changing any time soon!
