Daily Look: Gearing Up

Shirt: Gap // Skirt: H&M // Shoes: GoMax via Ella Blue // Earrings: Francesca's

I wore this cottony, casual outfit to pick up some more gear for our upcoming road trip. Getting ready for a trip is sometimes just as much fun as the trip itself, especially if you're a planner like I am, and we've been doing lots of it over the past week. Lists have been made, beach gear has been bought, Urban Spoon has been consulted, and we're all looking forward to hitting the road.

Do you like planning for trips as much as I do? Are you a list-maker, or do you fly by the seat of your pants?

Daily Look: Cat Print

Shirt: Forever 21 // Skirt: ModCloth // Shoes: BCBG via Endless // Earrings: Francesca's // Ring: Vintage

This is another example of my summer uniform. Until walking around in a bikini becomes acceptable, a loose shirt, full skirt, and sandals seems to be the way to go in this heat. Unfortunately, I am getting a bit frustrated with one of my most useful items of clothing--my chambray shirt. I have never liked the placement of the buttons because leaving one open looks nerdy, while leaving two open is a bit risque. And now that the newness magic (you know, the one that makes anything recently purchased look better in my eyes) has completely worn off, I am fed up! This shirt has certainly served me well, but I think it's time to move on.

All that to say, if you spot a reasonable priced chambray shirt with normally placed buttons, please let me know!

Daily Look: Keep it Simple

Dress: Target // Shoes: Nine West via DSW // Bracelet: James Avery // Earrings: Loft

This outfit is pretty darn simple, but that's exactly what I love about a summer dress. I can throw it on and be out the door without putting a whole lot of effort into it. I wore this out to eat with Sam and my husband over the weekend. My favorite thing about moving to a new area (besides being so much closer to my family, of course) is trying out restaurants and looking for new favorites. We ate at a Vietnamese place, then went out to pick up some items for our upcoming road trip to New Orleans and Destin.

What's your favorite thing to do in a new city? Anyone out there from The Woodlands who can recommend some good restaurants?

Daily Look: Green and Navy

Blouse: Forever 21 // Shorts: Gap // Shoes: GoMax via Ella Blue // Ring: Asos // Earrings: Francesca's

Lauren decided she wasn't getting much use out of these shorts, so she donated them to me! I have been admiring them since she first bought them, so I was thrilled. I love the little ties on the sides, and how they sort of give the shorts a bloomer shape. Of course, like all of my dark clothing, they require a good lint-rolling in order to be halfway presentable. I would shave those fluffy cats of mine, but they are just too cute the way they are. Oh well, I'll just keep my cabinet of lint rollers well stocked.

Daily Look: Preppy Casual

Shirt, Shorts: J. Crew // Shoes: Loft // Bracelet: Forever 21 // Hairband: Charming Charlie's

Even though I love edgy clothes and accessories like studded jackets and spiked jewelry, I will always be a sucker for the preppy look. Maybe it's because I've always been a bit of a goody two shoes, or maybe it's because I grew up in a warm climate more conducive to cotton and seersucker than leather, but preppy clothes just call to me sometimes. This is my casual version of the preppy look, and I wore it on yet another set of moving-in errands, hopefully the last.

Are you a preppy or edgy girl? Or do you, like me, refuse to pick a side?

Daily Look: Casual Mini

Shirt & Skirt: Gap // Shoes: GoMax via Ella Blue // Ring: Asos // Bracelet: H&M // Earrings: Francesca's // Headband: Charming Charlie

I wizened up to my surroundings, and switched out my jeans for a t-shirt and mini. I was much more comfortable, especially in the shade of the tall trees that are all over this part of Texas. It is a pretty big adjustment for a San Antonian whose idea of landscaping is limited to live oaks and prickly pear cacti. And it is a good reminder of how large and diverse our state really is. Sadly, it seems to be uniformly hot all over.

Daily Look: Cutoffs and Stripes

Shirt: Banana Republic // Shorts: Gap // Shoes: Me Too via Marshall's // Bracelets: Forever 21 // Earrings: Francesca's // Sunglasses: via Marshall's

I wore this outfit to go run errands with Sam and my husband Jared today. We're still in the process of settling into our apartment, and we discover new things that we need every day. Thankfully, I enjoy shopping and decorating, so it's been a lot of fun, and we're getting so close to being completely done I can almost taste it.

Have you moved or redecorated lately? What was your favorite/least favorite part?
