Daily Look: Birds and Pearls

Shirt: Dorothy Perkins // Skirt: Anthropologie // Shoes: Gap // Earrings: Loft // Sunglasses: Ray-Ban // Nails: Revlon Posh // Lipstick: Milani Rose Hip

The fun print of this shirt is what attracted me to it. It's covered in birds, butterflies, pearls, and flowers. Not things that I normally think of as going together, but hey, it works! It was a blisteringly hot day in San Antonio--I was sweating just taking these pictures!--but the thin material of the shirt and the breathability of this linen skirt kept me about as cool as any clothes possibly could. As it turns out, walking around in just a bathing suit isn't exactly socially acceptable.

Do you prefer prints or solids? Which do you have more of?

Daily Look: Passion Print

Dress & Earrings: Francesca's // Shoes: CL by Laundry via ModCloth // Beaded Bracelet: Vintage // Bow Bracelet: H&M

It was a great weekend, hanging out at my company retreat at the JW Marriot. Unfortunately, I totally forgot my camera, so I can't share any of my outfits! I did manage to snap a few in this floral dress that I borrowed from my mom's closet for Sunday dinner. I love the colors and the way it moves in the wind; good job mama! Do any of your moms have closets that you can shop in, or is the generation gap too wide?

Daily Look: Neon & Leopard

Blouse: Ann Taylor // Shorts: Loft // Shoes: GoMax via Ella Blue // Bracelets: Forever 21 // Sunglasses: via Marshall's // Necklace: Banana Republic Factory // Nails: Revlon Posh // Lips: Revlon Just Bitten Balm Stain in Lovesick

I decided to go for a color combination that I've seen on Pinterest several times but have never tried out myself: mixing leopard with a bright color. I've been told that animal prints should be treated as neutrals, but sometimes it's hard to think of such a bold pattern in that way. But I decided to go for it despite my hesitation, and I ended up really liking this outfit. I think that the neon shorts make this look a lot more summery and fun, and the neutral accessories tone everything else down.

Do you ever wear animal prints with bright colors? Do you consider them neutral?

Twin Styled: Poolside Glamour

Poolside Glamour

Even though I tend to be the plastic flip flops and cheapo sunglasses type of pool-goer, I am always in awe of the women who take fashion all the way to the deck chair. This used to be a phenomenon reserved only for the movies, but since one piece bathing suits have become so drool worthy, I am seeing it more in real life. It's an awesome trend because it really works best for more mature women. Who would have guessed that the over forty crowd would be looking sexier poolside than twenty somethings? Just leave the spike heels to the screen sirens. A stiletto at the snack bar loses its appeal.

Daily Look: Candy Stripes

Shirt: BDG via Urban Outfitters // Pants: Loft // Shoes: J. Crew Factory // Bracelet: James Avery // Earrings: Francesca's // Sunglasses: Ray-Ban // Lips: Revlon Just Bitten Balm Stain in Lovesick

I bought this shirt because it reminded me of one of my favorite childhood memories: getting a giant candy cane in my stocking at Christmas. I paired it with my jeans for a trip to the grocery store because even though it's definitely shorts weather outside, it feels like the arctic tundra when the air conditioner's on full blast in the produce department! I somewhat regretted the decision while loading the bags, but it's tough to decide what to wear when it's blistering hot outside and frigid inside.

What do you wear when the temperature inside is much colder than the temperature outside? I'd love to hear your ideas.

Daily Look: Pop of Pink

Blouse: Banana Republic // Pants & Bracelets: Loft // Shoes: DV by Dolce Vita via Piperlime // Earrings: Etsy // Ring: Vintage

I wore this bright look to run errands during the daytime, and out to dinner in the evening. San Antonio is a very casual city, so taking things from day to night doesn't usually apply here. On a weekend, I might have changed into heels and a dressier blouse, but that's really only because I think dressing up is fun! Do you change up your outfits when you go out in the evening?

Daily Look: Bow-Tied in Boerne

Shirt, Shoes: Banana Republic // Skirt: J. Crew // Shoes: Diba via DSW // Bracelets: Forever 21, Gift // Bag: Target // Sunglasses: Ray-Ban

This is the outfit that I wore when Sam and I went shopping in Boerne last weekend. It's a really charming town with tons of cute little shops full of pretty clothes, home goods, and antiques. We had a great time perusing the merchandise, but at the end of the day I bought only a pair of shoes--the same pair that Sam got! They were just way too good of a deal to pass up.

Do you ever buy the same clothes as your family or friends, or are you afraid you'll be caught wearing them on the same red carpet?
