Daily Look: Black and Tan

Sweater, Jacket: Loft // Skirt: Zara // Oxfords: Nine West // Earrings: Banana Republic // Bracelets: Forever 21, Ann Taylor // Lips: MAC Rebel // Nails: Zoya Ivanka

While standing outside in the midst of icy rain isn't exactly my idea of fun, this surprisingly warm faux fur jacket made it a lot more bearable. It's kind of like a wearable blanket--thick, fuzzy, and cozy--only it receives fewer confused stares when worn in public. Now if the world would just decide that wearing a full-length robe out of the house is socially acceptable, my day will be made.

Have you jumped on the animal print bandwagon?

Twin Styled: Spring Wedding

Spring Bridesmaids

Last night my oldest friend asked me to be the maid of honor in her wedding this summer. I was so thrilled that after chatting with her, I immediately started perusing the internet for all things wedding. In fact, I was so swept up that I almost forgot to write a post for today! Once I came up for air, I decided to use the blog as an outlet for my fervor, and collected a few bridesmaid's dresses for anyone who may be planning a spring wedding. I stayed with soft spring colors, and vintage silhouettes because I always worry that anything too modern might date photographs. Oh yeah, and I love them.

I can't wait to shop for our dresses; my friend is the perfect bride and is allowing us to pick our own, yay! I'm looking forward to sharing pictures with everyone in August!

Daily Look: Royal Blue

Sweater, Skirt: Banana Republic // Earrings: Loft // Bracelets: Francesca's, James Avery // Shoes: Libby Edelman via Marshall's // Sunglasses: via Marshall's // Lips: MAC Rebel // Nails: Zoya Ivanka

In contrast to my last outfit post, I went with bright, bold color today. Saturated royal blue is one of my absolute favorite colors--I'm pretty sure you could look at one of my old Crayola boxes and find my Cerulean crayon worn down to a nub--and I love the way that it can make an outfit more interesting without any extra work.

What's your favorite color? What crayon did you always reach for back in the day?

Busman's Holiday

Shirt: Anthropologie // Jeans: Gap // Sneakers: Vans via Urban Outfitters // Bag: Marshall's // Earrings: Francesca's

I recently discovered an affordable and surprisingly productive way of traveling long distances--taking the bus! This weekend I took a trip to Dallas, and while I normally wouldn't put up pictures of such a no frills outfit, I wanted to show off the new carry-on bag my mom got me for my birthday! I love it; it's the perfect size, and made me feel put together even as I put on my giant nerd glasses and traded my sneakers for fuzzy socks. Hey, it's comfort over cool on the greyhound!

Hope everyone had a super fun weekend!

Daily Look: Diamonds and Dots

Blouse: J. Crew // Cardigan, Earrings: Loft // Skirt: Ann Taylor // Shoes: Nine West // Tights: Express // Nails: Essie Velvet Voyage

I'm no New Yorker, so wearing all black isn't something I do often. I love a jolt of color like a good Texan gal should. But on days when I do wear a lot of black, I prefer to combine lots of textures and patterns to keep things from feeling drab. One of the easiest ways to do that is by throwing on textured tights instead of solid ones, and these diamond-patterned babies have held up through five Indiana winters, impressively. I hope I didn't just jinx it!

Do you prefer to wear colors or black?

Daily Look: SAMA Tour

Sweater: Loft // Shirt: H&M // Jeans: Gap // Shoes: J. Crew // Earrings: Francesca's // Ring: Vintage

I wore this outfit for lunch and a visit to the San Antonio Museum of Art with my friend. Even though we are both locals, neither of us had ever been to the SAMA, so it was fun exploring what our own town had to offer. It really inspired me to do more sight seeing around the city. South Town especially is getting a very cool vibe, and there is plenty of fashion to check out on the streets. Now I just have to commit to dragging myself out of the house more often!

Do you like to explore your own hometown?

Daily Look: Snowy Day

Blazer, Earrings: Loft // Sweater: Victoria's Secret // Skirt: Anthropologie // Boots: Banana Republic

Yesterday was one of those days where it started snowing and never stopped. It was snowing when I woke up, snowing each time I looked out the window during the day, snowing while I drove home, and snowing when I took these pictures. I'm definitely ready for winter to be over, but the weather has not been cooperating. Good thing I opted for dark colors today; if I had gone with winter white, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't have been able to see me in these pictures!

Runway to Reality: Vanessa Bruno Spring 2013

The other day Lauren and I were chatting about all of the pants hitting the runways lately, and how neither of us wear pants to work very often. I tend to wear skirts or dresses every day except Friday, when we are allowed to wear jeans, so I feel like I need to branch out. After sifting through Pinterest, I found some great inspiration looks, and decided to do a work-friendly recreation of this Vanessa Bruno look.

I may not have the bucks to spend on designer clothing, but this look is actually very doable on a real world budget. Here is my (much) less expensive version:

Vanessa Bruno Spring 2013

Obviously leather pants were a no-go for a weekday look, but I think I was able to translate it into something work appropriate without losing all of the cool factor. Now I just need to find a few more pairs of work pants that I love. And a nude lipstick, though I don't think this pale, freckled face could quite pull off bronzer!

What do you wear to work? Any ideas of good places to find flattering pants?
