Daily Look: Pre-Thanksgiving Shopping

Shirt: Lou and Grey via Loft // Jeans: BDG via Urban Outfitters // Bracelets: Ann Taylor, Forever 21 // Shoes: Matisse via Piperlime // Rings: Madewell // Nails: Ciate Gold Digga // Earrings: J. Crew // Bag: Old Navy // Sunglasses: Ray-Ban

I wore this outfit to do some shopping with Sam, who got in town on Monday for Thanksgiving. We tend to skip Black Friday shopping (at least in person) to avoid the craziness and crowds, but today was a perfect day to get out and do a little bargain hunting. The weather was perfect and the crowds were nonexistent, but we still got to enjoy sales and holiday decorations. We'll be spending today doing some hardcore baking and prepping for our Thanksgiving feast, then enjoying family time on Thursday and Friday, but we'll be back to regular posting on Monday.

Happy Thanksgiving to all the Americans out there!

Daily Look: Thanksgiving Break

Shirt: Gap // Jeans: Madewell // Shoes: Converse via Marshall's // Earrings: Gift

After a very long stretch with zero days off, I am so happy to finally get a whole week to relax and recuperate.  I wore this outfit yesterday on my drive to Lauren's apartment in The Woodlands, and got in just in time to take some pictures before the sun went down.  How can we get so few hours of daylight?!

I'm excited to spend the week sleeping late, overeating, and soaking in the family time.  I have a long list of things to be thankful for, and having family who are also my best friends is definitely near the top of that list.

What are your plans for Thanksgiving?

Daily Look: M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E

Shirt, Bag: Old Navy // Jeans, Rings, Bracelet: Madewell // Shoes: Converse // Earrings: The Limited // Sunglasses: Ray-Ban // Lips: Mary Kay True Dimensions Pink Cherie

I bought this shirt to wear on our upcoming trip to Disney World in December, but I couldn't resist breaking it out early. It's just so cute! I never got a chance to go to any of the Disney parks as a child-- my first trip to Disney World happened the year after my college graduation, at age 23--but I'm definitely making up for lost time now. It totally brings out the kid in me and really does feel magical, especially when it's all lit up for the holidays. I can't wait!

Are you a Mickey fan? Do you ever go to Disney World?

Runway to Reality: Oscar de la Renta Fall 2014

When I was flipping through fashion shows online and saw this beauty, I knew I wanted to find a way to recreate it.  It's so simple, but the proportions are absolutely perfect!  The flounce at the bottom of the skirt perfectly balances the chunkiness of the sweater, and the fact that it's black and white really lets your eye focus on the shapes.

I may not be able to find the simple perfection of Oscar de la Renta in my closet, but I can definitely use it as inspiration for my winter work wardrobe.  Chunky sweaters I have (although I'd take a few more) and I have several black skirts (that could all use a good once over with a lint roller)!  Plus, I managed to find lots of similar pieces being sold now that would allow you to have a similar look and not go broke right before Christmas!

Daily Look: Perfect Pair

Blouse, Skirt, Earrings: Ann Taylor // Boots: Banana Republic // Lips: Revlon Balm Stain in Lovesick

My husband got me this blouse and skirt last year for Christmas, and when I was trying on all my new clothes, I ended up with them on at the same time. I really liked how they looked together, and I haven't looked back, having worn this same combination at least 3 times since then. It's one of my favorite tops and one of my favorite skirts, so if they look good together, I might as well go for it, right?

Do you have certain pieces that you tend to pair together over and over again, or do you generally change things up?

Daily Look: Fall Break in Winter Weather

Sweater & Shirt: Gap // Jeans & Boots: Madewell // Rings: The Limited // Earrings: Francesca's

Our school is giving us a little fall break with cute themes, yummy snacks, and best of all, jeans days.  It was perfect timing because with this miserable cold snap, I am happy to have a thick layer of denim between me and the wind!  These pictures are from our first day which was hiking themed with trail mix in the lounge and a suggestion to wear plaid.  I ended up hiding most of the plaid with a sweater, but a button down was not cutting it in below freezing temperatures.

I'm most excited for the bedtime story theme on Thursday when I'm going to break out my flannel jammies and this sweet sweatshirt I got for my trip to Universal Studios this winter break.  Between wearing my slippers to school, turkey bowling (yep, I bowled with a 5 pound frozen turkey), and a potluck feast planned for Friday, it's turning out to be a pretty fun week!  It just makes the countdown to a week off that much sweeter!

Daily Look: Shades of Oxblood

Sweater, Skirt, Earrings: Loft // Tights, Boots: Via Spiga // Bracelet: The Limited // Rings: Madewell // Nails: OPI Skyfall // Lips: MAC Rebel // Sunglasses: Ray-Ban

Yesterday was an oxblood (burgundy?) kind of day. I decided to go tone on tone in a cranberry (maroon?) sweater and slightly darker skirt. Whatever you call it, this color combination just screams fall to me, although it felt more like winter. One of my favorite things about dressing for colder weather is how easy it is to throw a sweater on over a skirt and call it an outfit. Granted, I often regret my choice when the heater in my classroom starts trying to smoke me out, but there's just something so cozy about putting on a sweater on a chilly morning that I can't resist it, even knowing that it's probably a mistake.

What do you like to wear to work when it's cold outside?
