Daily Look: Ombre Stripes

Shirt: Gap // Jeans: Loft // Shoes: J. Crew // Earrings: Francesca's // Ring: Asos

I have been getting a lot of wear out of these blue jeans, and think I will get a lot out of this loose t-shirt as well.  During the warmer months, it can be difficult to ever get comfortable--what with the boiling outdoor temperatures and well air conditioned interiors. I am hoping that this shirt will be loose enough to catch any stray breeze out of doors, but keep me from becoming an ice cube when I come inside. Or maybe I am just kidding myself. Texas summer, I am afraid.

What are your tricks to beating the heat?

Daily Look: Violet and Coral

Shirt, Skirt: Gap // Shoes: J. Crew // Bag: Nine West via Marshall's // Bracelets: Forever 21 // Earrings: Loft // Sunglasses: via Marshall's // Lips: MAC Girl About Town

The weather is really warming up in Texas (where I will soon officially live again!), so it's time to break out my warm-weather clothes. On hot, humid days, I opt for thin fabrics that flow away from my body like this breezy top. And cotton eyelet just screams summer to me, so I was really excited when I found these shorts on super-sale and they actually fit (shorts can be hard, y'all).

What do you like to wear on hot days?

Daily Look: Blue Skies

Shirt: Old Navy // Skirt: Urban Outfitters // Shoes: Bandolino via Endless // Earrings: Francesca's // Ring: Vintage // Bracelets: Loft

And, as predicted, we got back to warm weather so fast that wearing a sweater seems insane. Spring is back in full swing, and I am back in bright colors. I recently had this skirt tailored so that it fits me at the waist, and I am loving it. I think I'm going to get a lot of use out of it as temperatures rise.

Daily Look: Purple Streak

Shirt: Asos // Skirt: H&M // Shoes: GoMax via Ella Blue // Bracelets: James Avery, Forever 21 // Sunglasses: via Marshall's // Earrings: Loft // Lips: Milani Rose Hip

I decided to have a little fun with my hair yesterday and put purple streaks in it. I've been intrigued by hair chalking for a long time, but also heard that it can be pretty terrible for your hair. That, and I haven't owned a piece of chalk for quite some time. But I do have another colorful powder readily available in my bathroom--eyeshadow! I wondered if it would work, and a quick Google session showed that I wasn't the first person to try it. Five minutes later, and voila! Fun purple hair with no commitment.

Have you ever put colorful streaks in your hair? Would you try it?

Daily Look: Bright and Blustery

Sweater & Jeans: Gap // Shoes: J. Crew // Earrings: Loft // Ring: Vintage

Well, I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't feel it, but we actually got a cold snap in May. I was excited because I just got this sweater on sale, and had thought I'd have to wait until December to wear it. My feet were pretty cold without socks, but I just draw the line at wearing boots this close to summer vacation. I'm sure it will be back to shorts tomorrow!

Roundup: Stylish Summer Shade

As hard as it is to believe, summer is almost here, and with it, days spent outside. But if you, like me, are concerned about keeping your skin protected from the sun, you'll need more than just a good bottle of sunscreen. Thankfully, there are tons of cute hats and sunglasses, two of the best forms of sun protection, available right now so that you can make your own shade (and look good while doing it).

Summer Shade

From floppy hats to straw fedoras to baseball caps, hats are definitely having a moment right now, which means you'll be able to find something you like in just about any style and price point. Find a pair of coordinating sunglasses and you'll be ready for the sun. I've already stocked up on sunscreen (Elta MD UV Shield and Babyganics Up Baby) and picked up this straw hat in preparation for my move back to Texas and inevitable sun exposure. I've never been a hat-wearer before, but that ends this summer! My poor scalp has been burned many too many times.

How do you protect yourself when you're out in the sun? Do you ever wear hats?

Daily Look: Spring Spots

Shirt, Pants: J. Crew // Shoes: Nine West // Earrings: Banana Republic // Bracelet: H&M // Sunglasses: Ray-Ban // Lips: Mary Kay Rock 'n Red

I can't believe it, but it was actually warm enough to go sleeveless. As is often the case, we skipped from chilly winter weather to warm, summery weather in the span of a few days. The grass is green, and there are finally leaves and blossoms on the trees. I guess April showers really do bring May showers here. Of course, I won't have to worry about when spring will finally come much longer because we're moving back to Texas soon! Yay!

Has spring sprung where you live? I heard it was snowing in Colorado...yikes!
