Daily Look: Holiday Plaid

Shirt: Old Navy // Jeans & Rings: Madewell // Boots: Aldo //Earrings: Francesca's

The window for wearing this shirt is somewhat small (it doesn't exactly work for the summer), but it is definitely one of my favorite shirts to wear during the holidays.  The bright red plaid reminds me of wrapping paper and makes me want to sing Christmas carols all day.  The fact that I don't get to wear it year round is making me want to put it on every day. You may be seeing it layered under some jackets or sweaters in the near future!

Daily Look: Mod Sweater Dress

Sweater Dress: Cynthia Rowley via Marshall's // Boots: Via Spiga // Tights: Francesca's // Earrings: Banana Republic // Bracelets: Ann Taylor // Rings: Madewell

I wore this mod-inspired sweater dress today and felt like Daphne from Scooby Doo (minus the red hair and green scarf). I've never worn a sweater dress before because I've always been a little bit afraid that they'll be too hot indoors, but I was surprised by how comfortable it was. It's cozy, but it's not sweltering. Shockingly, it's supposed to be fairly chilly here in The Woodlands for the next couple of weeks, so all of the cold-weather clothing I collected while living up in Indiana will finally be getting a good workout.

Are you a sweater dress fan? Do you find them too hot, or just right?

Daily Look: Sweater Dress

Dress: Cynthia Rowley via Marshall's //  Boots: Ann Taylor // Tights: Asos // Rings: Madewell, Vintage

As anyone who happened to be shopping at Marshall's and witnessed my squeals of delight can tell you, I was more than a little excited when I found this dress. I always tell myself that sweater dresses aren't practical because you can only wear them when it's cold, but they stick to tights. But what can I say? The heart wants what the heart wants, and my heart has a thing for fair isle. Was it annoying unsticking it from my tights 10,000 times today? Perhaps. Was it worth it? Yes.

Daily Look: Cozy Cable Knit Sweater

Sweater: Ann Taylor Factory // Corduroys: Gap // Boots: Via Spiga // Earrings: The Limited // Sunglasses: Cole Haan via Marshall's

I wore this cozy, comfortable outfit out to dinner with my family last week, and I was pleasantly surprised by just how warm this new sweater kept me. Well, it's not technically new--I bought it during an end-of-season sale last spring--but this was the first time I had the chance to wear it. I spent all last winter looking for a thick, snuggly, itch-free cable knit sweater to no avail, and when I eventually found one, it was already way too warm to wear it, so I was pretty excited when I was finally able to bust it out.

Are you a fan of getting good deals buying things out of season, or does that just feel too weird?

Daily Look: Tinsel Town

Sweater: Loft // Shirt: Urban Outfitters // Jeans: Madewell // Earrings & Sunglasses: Target //  Boots: Aldo // Cat Ring: Asos

This is an outfit that I wore to work on the last day of school before Thanksgiving break. It was a chilly day, and I wanted my outfit to be both festive and warm. I love this chunky sweater because it's great for layering without worrying about buttons showing through, and the gold thread running through it reminds me of tinsel. I will definitely be getting tons of use out of it as the winter holidays approach!

Daily Look: Inspired by Layers

T-Shirt: Gap // Shirt: Bitten by SJP (via consignment) // Jeans: Forever 21 // Booties: Matisse via Piperlime // Jacket: Sanctuary via Piperlime // Sunglasses: Target

I'm always a huge fan of dressing in layers--not only does it look cute and add a little bit more interest to an outfit, but it's practical too--but I don't always remember to try new ways to put my clothes together. I'm always looking for ideas and inspiration wherever I can find it. So when I saw this adorable outfit on Pinterest, I knew I wanted to re-create it. The weather was perfect for dressing in layers this Saturday, so I busted out a t-shirt, chambray button-down, and my leather jacket. I was pleasantly surprised that the chambray shirt really did provide an extra layer of warmth, so I will definitely try this layering combination again.

Are you a fan of layering, or do you prefer to keep it simple? Do you get outfit ideas from Pinterest?
