Daily Look: Blue Blossoms

Shirt: Modcloth // Skirt: Banana Republic // Cardigan: J. Crew // Earrings: The Limited // Bracelet, Tights: Ann Taylor // Shoes: Zara

Sam got this tie-neck blouse for me for Christmas, and my husband got me this skirt, so it was a total coincidence that they ended up matching perfectly. So much so, in fact, that with the cardigan buttoned up over it, it almost looks like a dress.

Daily Look: Dot the I

Sweater: Loft // Pants: Zara // Shoes: Nine West // Earrings: Gift // Bracelet: Ann Taylor

I love this polka dotted sweater that Lauren got me for Christmas this year because I can wear it with anything! It can go professional with work pants or a skirt, or casual with jeans and look equally appropriate. Plus it's the perfect thing for these recent days of cool breezes and sunny skies.  I know I'll be wearing this a ton on weekends and weekdays alike!

Daily Look: Lace and Tulle

Sweater, Tights: Ann Taylor // Skirt: ModCloth // Shoes: Nine West // Earrings: Target // Bracelet: H&M

I wore this ballet-inspired outfit to work last week, wishing all day that I worked somewhere where I could have gotten some twirling mileage out of the full, fluffy tulle skirt. Of course I took a few spins when I got home after fighting the urge all day. This skirt features one of my favorite neutral color combinations: navy and black. I still remember a conversation I had with a friend in middle school wherein she pronounced that navy and black did not go together. Well, I disagreed then, and still do, clearly.

What no-no color combinations do you like?

Roundup: Flats That Don't Fall Flat

Flats the Don't Fall Flat

As much as I love the look of heels, they just aren't usually an option in my line of work. When your job involves power walking through hallways every thirty minutes, you give up on pumps pretty quickly.  So, alas, I am pretty much limited to flats, short heels, and wedges.  But, thank goodness, flats are getting cuter by the season.  Where I once had to settle with boring (if not outright ugly) footwear, I can now find all kinds of awesome styles. I am on the constant lookout for cute, comfortable shoes, so I thought I'd do a round up of some of the kicks that have caught my eye recently.  They may not elongate the leg, but at least they're fun!

Daily Look: In the Money

Shirt: Original Penguin // Pants, Bracelets: Ann Taylor // Shoes: Nine West // Sunglasses: Ray-Ban

Sam bought this money symbol-printed blouse at the Original Penguin store in New York during a family vacation the summer after our freshman year of college. She passed the shirt down to me, and even though it's been nearly a decade, I still love it, with its puff sleeves, necktie, and fun pattern. Plus, every time I wear it, it reminds me of our trip. Clothes make the best souvenirs! This shirt is way better than a junky tchotchke.

Do you like to buy clothes when you go on a vacation? How old is the oldest piece of clothing you still like wearing?

Daily Look: Take Me Out

Sweater & skirt: Loft // Shoes: Aldo // Tights: Ann Taylor // Earrings: Francesca's // Rings: Vintage, Limited, & Madewell

Lauren got this skirt and sweater for me for Christmas, and while I definitely see a pilgrim influence (at least in the color palette), I think that together they scream date night. I planned to wear them for dinner and a movie last weekend, but our check was slow and we ended up missing the movie. So, in truth, instead of wearing this cute outfit to the theater, I ended up wearing pajamas to my couch and watching Monster's University for the second time (still amazing). Maybe one day we will actually make it to The Hobbit.

Daily Look: All Weekend Long

Shirt: Ann Taylor // Jeans: Forever 21 // Shoes: Zara // Earrings: Target // Bracelets: Forever 21, Urban Outfitters // Rings: Madewell

While I spent a large chunk of my weekend lounging around in my pajamas, when I ventured outside the house, this is what I was wearing. I wore it on Friday to get my hair cut, to see American Hustle on Saturday, and to the grocery store on Sunday. Sue me. I wasn't feeling too creative with my clothes, so it was easier not to think and just put on the same tried-and-true outfit.

Do you ever wear the same outfit multiple days in a row? Or am I alone in my sartorial laziness?
