Ever since my mom made me a duck costume for Halloween out of fuzzy yellow footie pajamas and orange flippers, I've loved creating costumes by putting pieces together. It's so much more fun than simply going out and purchasing a ready-made costume, and you know that no one else will be wearing the same thing as you. With that in mind, in the weeks leading up to October 31st, Sam and I will be sharing Halloween costume ideas. This week, I was inspired by one of the most graceful, gorgeous women ever in one of her most iconic roles: Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany's. I've honestly never seen anyone so glamorous. Who could forget how beautiful she looked in that sweeping black dress and jewels?
To re-create this look, you need a long black dress, statement necklace, long gloves, oversize sunglasses, and a cigarette holder. Then, just pile on the eyeliner and mascara, put your hair in an updo, and ask everyone, in the most charming way possible, "How do I look?" Here's the version I came up with, using pieces that are currently available for sale.
What are you planning to dress as this year? Would you go as Audrey Hepburn?

I want to go back in time to this gloriously glamorous age. I guess that's the fun of a costume party!
